2014 Porsche Cayman

In the weeks leading up to the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, tremendous buzz surrounded Porsche’s obtuse announcement of a mysterious world premiere at the show.  Now that the show is squarely behind us, we can all reflect on the upcoming re-release of the 2014 Porsche Cayman, a totally redesigned sports coupe which takes up the mantle of the eponymous model which was discontinued with the 2012 model year.

Available in the spring of 2013 at your Arizona Porsche dealer, the 2014 Porsche Cayman is the next generation of a Porsche classic – the power and design of a Porsche sports coupe has never been so comfortable (or so efficient).

The new Cayman will be offered in two major trim levels: the Cayman and the Cayman S.  The Cayman will be fitted with a direct-injected, 2.7 liter horizontally opposed engine – colloquially known as the “flat six” or “boxer” – according to J.D. Power and Associates.  Mated to the 275 horsepower engine (325 on the Cayman S) is either a six-speed manual transmission or the proprietary PDK seven-speed automatic transmission – each with unique feel and slightly different torque and acceleration.

The 2014 Porsche Cayman can go from 0-60 miles per hour in as little as 5.1 seconds, with the Cayman S coming in as quickly as 4.4 seconds.  Those are tremendous speeds for a car in its class, especially when considered alongside the fact that the Cayman can achieve highway fuel mileage of 32 miles per gallon.

At first glance, the Cayman is longer, lower, and wider than its predecessor, but the car feels just as nimble as ever.  All of the “creature comforts” in demand for today’s drivers are present – leather is tastefully used throughout the interior to highlight and accentuate the Cayman’s classic lines and to soften the appearance of the coupe’s many standard and optional technological features.  Ventilated disc brakes, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking assistance are also present among the many safety features which round out each package.

Far from the inappropriately-dubbed “girl car” of the previous generation, the 2014 Porsche Cayman shatters expectations about what the mid-engine sports coupe brings to the market.  Call or visit Porsche of Tucson to learn more about the upcoming Cayman or any of the other expertly crafted Porsche offerings.
