The greatest collection of modern and vintage Porsche racing cars will gather next fall at the famed Laguna Seca Raceway. Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) recently announced that the fifth Rennsport Reunion would be held on the west coast. Laguna Seca, situated on the Monterey peninsula in central California. Enthusiasts can drive the dynamic street models of the Porsche Rennsport cars at Porsche of Tucson.

The inagural Rennsport Reunion was held in 2001 at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. In 2011 the event moved West, holding Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca. Event winners included a 1964 Bobsy-Porsche SR-3 in the Gmund Cup race, a 1964 Platypus-Porsche S/R in the Eifel Trophy race, and 2007 Porsche Spyder taking the Stuttgart Cup. Thousands of motorsports lovers gathered at the track for a weekend of camping, entertainment and racing-related events.

The 2011 Rennsport Reunion IV drew almost 1,300 member-owned models from Porsche Club of America, spanning 66 different model years. The Porsche Club of America, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year, plans to close out their year-long anniversary celebration at the 2015 Laguna Seca reunion.

Now known as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, is one of the most revered road racing tracks in the world. At 2.24 miles long (3.6 km), it hosts countless racing and entertainment events each year. The Rennsport Reunion will follow the track’s annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Renunion, to be held August 13-16, 2015. The Rolex event, described as a museum come to life, typically attracts 550 historic vehicles from multiple eras. Drivers and fans relive history as the cars compete in single and combined class races.

The Rennsport Reunion is held every three years and has become a tradition for Porsche collectors and race drivers, both amateur and professional. PCNA expects more than 40,000 attendees at the three and a half day event. The 2015 Porsche Rennsport Reunion V will feature a mid-engine 550 Spyder from the 1950s, the venerable 917 and 956/962 of the 1970s and 1980s, and the contemporary RS Sypder and 911 GT3 RSR. Special tributes are planned for the 919 LMP1 prototype car that experts believe will be the future of Porsche Motorsport.

Porsche owes much of its history and success to its almost 30,000 motorsport wins to date. As the world’s largest race car manufacturer, building more than 300 racing cars every year. Professional endurance events and Porsche owner teams, including the Porsche Junior Program, are the heart and soul of Porsche Motorsport. It’s not only a tradition but a matter of principle for Porsche. Fans from around the world will join in the celebration of this storied history at next year’s Rennsport Reunion V.
