Porsche 911 Helps Company Set All-time Sales Record

With a sales increase of nearly 40 percent over the previous year, the Porsche 911 fueled an overall company sales increase from November 2016 to the same period in 2017. “With 5,555 deliveries, we set a new all-time monthly record. In particular, our two-door sports cars – the Porsche 911 and the 718 model line – showed impressive double digit growth versus last year,” according to Porsche Cars North America CEO Klaus Zellmer. The Porsche 911 accounted for 976 sales in the U.S., while the 718 Boxster and Cayman delivered 522 vehicles. The Panamera sports sedan recorded a 44 percent increase in sales while the midsize Macan continues to outpace all other models with 1,981 vehicles sold. There’s a Porsche 911 for Every Taste

If you’re looking for what is arguably the most sought-after sports car of the last few decades, don’t overlook the Porsche 911 lineup. Offering more than 20 different models ranging in price from around $90,000 to almost $300,000, the 911 lineup can be a bit confusing to the casual bystander. The 911 lineup starts with the “base” Carrerra with a 3.4L turbocharged engine which is plenty quick enough for most people. Put an “S” on the end of any 911 model and it means it is quicker than the model without the S. For instance, the Carrera S puts out about 50 more horsepower than the base Carrerra. If you add a “4” to the name, that means it has four-wheel drive. A Cabriolet has a soft top that goes up and down and is available in a number of different 911 models. The Porsche 911 Targa is a hybrid between a convertible and hard top, with a hardtop that either removes of folds away. The GTS, GT3 and GT2 RS are super-powered beasts that you really need to drive to understand. The GT2 RS is the pinnacle of the Porsche 911 lineup, starting at a thrifty $293,200.

A Car That Demands to be Driven

While the Pony car wars are interesting and Detroit has certainly created its fair share of impressive track cars, purists will argue that for overall driving dynamics and thrill-of-a-lifetime ride, you can’t beat the Porsche 911. The 911 has been ruling the track for more than 50 years and is the car of choice for many driving enthusiasts. To see why the 911 continues to dominate sales despite its price tag, take some time and visit Porsche of Tucson for a test drive. Smiles are free, the 911 is not.
