The Porsche 918 Spyder is the perfect idealization of what a Porsche car is designed to be. It’s reliable, yet luxurious and sporty; it’s a fast exhilarating car, yet designed to be a safe car you can depend on; and now it has also been given electric motors so that you can experience a hybrid drive.

The 918 Spyder is the type of car that you can use every day with minimum consumption. The Porsche team designed this car from scratch around the idea of a hybrid drive. With that being said, it was designed to a degree no one has ever seen before. With the goal of improving efficiency and performance without one being at the cost of the other, the 918 Spyder will be the basis of Porsche sports cars of the future.

The 918 Spyder was intentionally created and expanded by series production specialists and Porsche engineers who specialize in building race cars. There was plenty of inspiration that went into building this car from the development of Porsche race cars from the 24 hours race in Le Mans 2014.

The E-Power mode is the default operating mode, as long as the battery is charged. In electric mode, this racing machine can go from 0-62 mph in 7.0 seconds. It can even reach speeds up to 93 mph. Electric mode can take you up to 18 miles: when the battery’s charge state drops below a minimum set value, it automatically changes to hybrid mode. The combustion engine is only used when absolutely needed. This mode is perfect for an economical lifestyle. There is also minimal noise that the car gives out when on electric mode that gives it a sophisticated and quiet feel.

There are other modes that the car has for more of a racing experience. Overall, there are five different modes the vehicle can operate in: E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid, and Hot Lap.

The car has a combination of a combustion engine and two electric motors. There is one electric motor located on the rear axle and another on the front axle. According to international journalists, the current lap time for the North Loop of the Nürburgring is 7:14 minutes; this car is expected to break records! The source of the power comes from the 4.6-liter, eight cylinder engine that produces 608 hp and derived directly from the power unit of the RS Spyder. Since it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, it has the capability of a racing machine yet has low fuel consumption.
