Powerful Porsche 911 Targa GTS Gets New Top down Design

You have a choice of over 20 models of the Porsche 911 in the US. The models just keep coming and Porsche lovers have quite the selection to choose from.

In 2014 Porsche company produced a special 50th Anniversary Edition. The 50th Anniversary Edition edition is no longer on the market, but has been replaced by the brand new 911 Targa 4 GTS.

The base model, the 911 Targa 4 came to the market in 2014 with a 350 horsepower 3.4 litre with Porsche’s famous true flat 6-cylinder engine. The new Targa gets all the GTS trimmings with a beefier engine and many cosmetic improvements.

The GTS will now have 0.4 litres of extra displacement instead of the 3.4 litre power plant on the base model. The result is an extra 80 horsepower that brings it up to 430 horsepower. It will also include a four-wheel-drive system.

With the old-fashioned 7-speed manual gearbox, the new 911 Targa with the 430 horsepower engine can do 0 to 60 in an impressive 4.5 seconds. Even more impressive is Porsche’s amazing manu-matic transmission with a twin-clutch PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung), which can get you to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

The Targa 4 GTS top speed is 188 mph for the 7-speed manual transmission and 187 with the twin-clutch PDK. That’s an improvement of 0.5 to 0.7 seconds to get up to 60 mph from rest, and a top speed improvement of 13-14 mph.

The standout feature of Porsche’s newest 911, is the electric roof that raises the entire back window and stores the roof cover. The Porsche Targa’s folding roof is one of the most impressive folding roofs on the market. Some of the cosmetic improvements on the Targa 4 GTS include 20-inch matte black centre lock wheels, black intakes, a sport design at the front, extra black logos and black aluminum highlights.

You can expect to pay quite a bit more for the GTS’ improvements in performance and cosmetic upgrades.

The standard 911 Targa 4 is currently selling for $101,600, while you can expect to pay around $132,800 for the GTS. The only question that remains is if the GTS is worth that extra money.

That question will be answered very soon as the 2015 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS will be out in April 2015 in showrooms across the US.
